This is a perfect safari combination to visit the southern national parks in Tanzania.
Mikumi national park has a great variety of animals such as the ‘Big Five’ and chances that you will encounter lions climbing up trees is higher here than in other parks! Udzungwa national park is known for sightings of the rare Iringa red colobus monkey and the Sanje crested mangabey. You can find these two types only in this region. The park has the second largest biodiversity of any national park in Africa. And Ruaha national park is not only the second largest park but is probably home to more elephants than any other national park in East Africa. Selous Game Reserve is Tanzania’s largest park. Due to its wildlife diversity and undisturbed nature it is even a UNESCO World Heritage Site!
ITINERARY
Day 1 Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve – Boat Safari
Stop At: Selous Game Reserve
Morning depart for Selous Game Reserve you will have a short break for hot lunch in Kibiti. The journey to Selous will take about 5 to 6 hours. Arrive for afternoon boat safari along the mighty Great Rufiji River. Boat safari brings you into close contact with hippo, crocodile and fantastic birdlife. Animals make their way to the river to drink and boat may approach elephant, waterbuck and other on the river banks to within a few meters. Crocodile glide into the water as your boat approaches and hippo appear in frightening proximity, grunting and blowing steam. Accommodation: Mloka Safari Lodge or Africa Safari Camp

Day 2 Full Day Game Drive in Selous Game Reserve
Stop At: Selous Game Reserve
You will have full day game drive In Selous Game Reserve exploration of the Reserve by 4wd vehicle; will permit you to have good photographic opportunities and the chance to explore different sections of vast park. The Selous Game Reserve is the largest game reserve in Africa, covering the area of 50,000square kilometres. Selous is famous for its Elephants, commonly seen are lions, wild dogs, buffalo, bushbuck, impalas, elands, baboons, zebra, wildebeest and greater kudu. Accommodation: Mloka Safari Lodge or Africa Safari Camp.

Day 3 Walking Safari in Selous GR then drive to Morogoro Town
Stop At: Morogoro Region
Wake-up early in the morning and have a cup of coffee or tea, then go out for wilderness walking safari with guidance of an armed ranger which will take two to two and a half hours. Walking safari will give you a particularly intimate feel for African wild. You will get the chance to touch the nature, see the different foot print and droppings of different wild animals and small creatures that you can’t see them during the game drive. After walking safari you will go back to the camp for breakfast then start driving to Morogoro Town with game drive en route, the journey is the most amazing and truly wild and untouched areas of Tanzania. The drive will take you up into the Uluguru Mountains across rivers and pass through small local villages and farms. The drive is tiring but possibly the most rewarding and adventures on the southern circuit. Accommodation: Arc Hotel.

Day 4 Morogoro to Ruaha National Park
Stop At: Ruaha National Park
After breakfast start the journey to Ruaha National Park with stopover in Iringa Town for lunch. You will have a shot town tour in Iringa then drive to Ruaha Hilltop lodge for dinner and overnight. Accommodation: Ruaha Hilltop Lodge. (Outside the National Park)

Day 5 Full day game drive in Ruaha National Park
Stop At: Ruaha National Park
Morning after breakfast, you will go out with packed lunch for full day game drives in Ruaha National Park. A fine network of game viewing roads follows the Great Ruaha River and its seasonal tributaries, where during the dry season impala, waterbuck and other antelopes risk their life for a sip of life sustaining water. And the risk is considerable not only from the pride of 20-plus lion that lord over the savannah, but also from the cheetah that stalk the open grassland. Accommodation: Ruaha Hilltop Lodge. Day 6 Another full day game drive in Ruaha National Park
Stop At: Ruaha National Park
Wake up for early breakfast then drive to the park for full day game drive to explore the beautiful of the park, with its full of rocky, kopjes and ancient baobab trees. Lunch time you will drive back to the cottage for hot lunch. After lunch you will continue with game drive until sunset. Accommodation: Ruaha Hilltop Lodge. (Outside the National Park)

Day 7 Ruaha NP to Udzungwa Mountain NP via Isimila Stone Age Site
Stop At: Isimila Stone Age Site
After breakfast you will start driving to Isimila Stone Age Site via Iringa town. This tour will take about two hours then drive to Udzungwa Mountain National Park. The tour of the site begins at the little museum where a guide gives a brief introduction to the formation of the site and explains more about the fossils and tools that are displayed. The tour then continues into the canyon down a steep footpath. Once there the guide shows you some of the beds where the tools were found and explained how the rock towers were formed. The walk is very scenic, the earth has a warm reddish tint and it is also a good spot to see birds.

After visiting Isimila Stone Age Site you will drive to Udzungwa Mountain National Park for dinner and overnight.

Day 8 Wonderful walking in Udzungwa Rainforest Mountain
Stop At: Udzungwa Mountains National Park
Wake up for breakfast then your driver will drive you to the starting point after completes the park formalities. Start walking in this beautiful Park enjoying and experience the stunning natural beauty of the Park. Picnic lunch in the bush then proceed exploring the area including the wonderful Sanje waterfall which is 170m high. You can get a chance to swim in one of the waterfall plunge pools. You will walk up to 1600m above sea level with beautiful view of Kilombero valley. You will get the chance to see six species of monkeys include endemic species of Sanje Crested Mangabey and Iringa Red Colobus Monkey. Udzungwa Mountain NP is one of Tanzania’s most outstanding, pristine, paradise and unique exciting wilderness mountains forested with greatest altitudinal range of forest. It is one of the thirty four “World Biodiversity Hotspot” and one of 200 WWF Eco Region of global critical importance.

Stop At: Mikumi National Park
After mountain trekking you will drive to Mikumi Bastian Camp or Mikumi Safari Lodge for dinner and overnight.

Day 9 Full day game drive in Mikumi National Park
Stop At: Mikumi National Park
After breakfast check out and launches the journey to Mikumi National Park this will take about two hours. Arrive for game drive in Mikumi NP. Animals commonly found Include lion, eland, hartebeest, buffalo, wildebeest, giraffe, zebra, elephants and many more. Wild dog can come and go in this park. The open horizons and abundant wildlife of the Mkata Floodplain. Over 300 species of birds have been observed in this park.

Day 10 Visit Maasai Tribe then drive back to Dar es Salaam
Stop At: Mikumi National Park
Wake up for breakfast in the camp/lodge and later drive to Maasai tribe. Today you will get the chance to visit Maasai Boma to see how they live and get the history of their tribe. After visiting Maasai Boma you will drive back to Dar es Salaam.

Stop At: Dar es Salaam
After visiting Maasai Boma you will start driving back to Dar es Salaam with a short stop for hot lunch in Morogoro town. On arrival in Dar es Salaam you will be dropped off at place of your choice.
